Arpita was crowned as Mrs. Universe America 2023-2024 on December 10th, 2023 at the 11th Annual AmPowering Global Women's Festival. Founded by Menka Soni, this charitable organization is recognized by the Global Beauty Awards in various categories and is the longest running Indian pageant in the states of Washington and Oregon. This is the only official and nonprofit pageant for a cause. Through the Dec 10th 2023 pageant, Arpita collaborated with AmPowering to raise funds to donate $15k to cancer patients from low income families.
Originally from Kolkata, India, Arpita grew up in Washington State, USA. She attended the University of Washington where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. With over 10 years industry experience working in the Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data fields, she currently builds lovable software products at Amazon’s Alexa Kids Experience team as a Senior Technical Program Manager. She is a working mother of a bright 7-year old daughter, who was also crowned as Princess of Washington at the same event.
Arpita is the first person in her family to ever experience the pageant journey and it has been a very rewarding experience for her. With the help of her coach Shivani Singh of Coachnista, and mentors at Ampowering, Arpita had a holistic development process dedicated to sustainable long-term personal growth while uplifting women in her community and globally.
Arpita is passionate about giving back to the community. She actively donates her time and resources to support US based and global non profit organizations whose values resonate with her, such as World Wildlife Fund, Save the Elephant Foundation, AmPowering, United Way of King County, We Heart Seattle, Asia Pacific Cultural Center, De'Haat Organization, Calcutta Orphanage and other community groups. She serves as an alumnus member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Multicultural Sorority,Professional Advisory Board member at University of Washington's Women in Science and Engineering organization, mentor at Amazon and a speaker at the Grace Hopper Women in Tech Conference. On average, Arpita aims to volunteer around 8 hours every week (or equivalent donations) at various organizations.
Arpita strives to empower women in various phases of their life via mentorship, workshops, learning sessions and motivational speaking events. Through her community involvement, she aims to promote higher education, financial independence, self-confidence, self-love and care for women. By sharing her life experiences and setting a good example, Arpita’s journey represents that of a woman of substance, who has shattered societal glass ceilings through consistent hard work and dedication. She is grateful for this opportunity to be a strong advocate for education, women, the pageant system and plans to use her new platform to continue to empower females to dream big, believe in themselves, and harness their inner fire to define themselves.
As reigning Mrs. Universe America, Arpita will be competing in the 47th Mrs. Universe Worldwide pageant in South Korea in October 2024.
